It has often, yet sadly, been said that the church is "the only army that wounds it's own."
Perhaps you or someone you love has been hurt by a church, perhaps even our church - Sunrise Community Church. While church leaders are called by God to do so willingly and in order to serve the flock (see 1 Peter 5:1-4), that hasn't always been the case. If the pain is still exercising a paralytic effect on you - perhaps slowing you from getting more involved in a church or from even attending a church at all - I highly recommend this Audiobook: A Tale of Three Kings by Gene Edwards. And it's Free: Click Here to Download.
It's a thirty-year-old book that chronicles the relationship between a rebellious leader and lover of God and then a godly king and his rebellious son/follower. Three kings in all: Saul, David, & Absalom. It reads like novel (and is only around 90 minutes by the way) while taking brief pauses to dispense sound wisdom for responding in a godly manner to abrasive leadership and how, as a leader, to respond to abrasive congregants.
May God Bless your listening!
